So I had a pretty cool experience that I thought I would share with all of you… If you are a business owner, listen up, because this is huge!
As my wife and I had finished up at a doctors appointment I was headed back home while she and her sister and mom were going to go to a sit down restaurant. Well I needed to get home and get some things done before a deadline so I thought I would get something to go that I could eat in the car.
I ended up stopping by a Chick-Fil-A which I had only been to once before. The first time I had been there, we had just gone through the drive through. I remember noticing how good the customer service was, eventhough it was all through a microphone.
Well, this time I decided to go in and check the place out. I must say I was highly impressed! I am not a fast food guy, but this place was very clean and professaional. As I was handing the girl my money, she was handing me my food! Everyone was super nice behind the counter. The total experience was highly impressive.
Now let me explaine why I bring all of this up. You might be saying “so what!”, but being an owner of a storefron and an online business, there are some key things to pull out of this.
First off, I live in a pretty small town, so it would seem that most people are pretty laidback and not as professional as you may find in a bigger city. But as I thought about it, just because we are in a smaller town doesn’t mean anything! That is no reason to lower the standard! When I left that resteraunt I walked away feeling like my business could do better.
In harder times of the economy, we business owners and especially storefront owners need to do everything possible to keep customers coming in. Creating a good, unique experience for the customer is huge! How many of us focus on being unique? Or do we spend most of our time trying to copy the “other guys”?
In order for us and our business to stand out from our competitors, we need to change it up and be different than the “other guys”. We can do this by creating a valuable experience that will stand out in our customers minds. How do we do this?… Well, I suppose it would be different for everyone, depending on what their business consisted of.
I do encourage you to take the time and think about how you can make your customer’s experience more unique way that will get them talking to their friends about what had happened… in a good way.
My whole experience got me to thinking about how many different things a business owner can do. In one of the latest Maverick Business Insider Issues, Yanik Silver talked about how one women took an ordinary Gym and put a unique twist on it in such a way her gym stand out from all other gyms. Her multiple gyms have made it to many different news channels and with her premium experience at her gyms, she is able to charge a premium price. A price that no one would pay an ordanary gym.
I hope all of this is making sense. What I would like to do is invite you to a Free Live Webinar I will be holding Tomorrow, Saturday the 14th at 12 noon PST. We are going to be discussing this topic of Standing Out From The Crowd. Please click on the link below to register. This will be a great time of uncovering the little things that can cause your customers to have a premium experience or a common experience.
If the story of the lady and her gym intreged you, I highly recommend checking out Yanik Silver’s Maverick Business Insider, where he shares some amazing things he has learned over the years and the premium experiences he has been through.
I look forward to seeing you at the webinar!
